My career journey began in 2008 where I served as a Research Analyst and Student Associate at ValueFronteira Limited, an economic research and consulting firm. At VF, I prepared monthly macroeconomic reports, industry reports, money and financial market updates and wrote articles on economic issues.
Thereafter, I moved to Agusto & Co., Nigeria’s foremost research and credit ratings company, where I developed my skills in Macroeconomic and Industry Analysis. At Agusto & Co., I conducted macroeconomic analysis and prepared detailed industry reports for clients – commercial banks, investors, pension firms, etc. From Agusto & Co., I joined the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Nigeria’s leading private sector-led think tank, committed to the development of a competitive Nigerian economy. I serve as a Principal Economist at the NESG, where I lead the work on Economic Transformation and Competitiveness.
I engage policymakers on reforms to improve the Nigerian economy. I also liaise with private sector leaders, providing them with useful insights to navigate a complex and volatile world. In 2019, I delivered a presentation on “Three Scenarios for Nigeria Going into 2050” at the Nigerian Economic Summit, which had in attendance Nigeria’s president, state governors and captains of industry. I also contributed to the development of Nigeria’s Medium Term National Development Plan (2021 – 2025).
My love for Economics extends beyond professional engagements.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics (Delta) and a Master’s Degree in Economics (Lagos). I earned my PhD in Economics from SOAS, University of London, where I worked on Structural Transformation, Productivity Growth and Employment with a focus on Africa and Nigeria.
I am a member of the Royal Economic Society, London, UK and serve as the Chair of the Diaspora Chapter of the Nigerian Economic Society.
In November 2022, I delivered a presentation titled The Nigerian Economy in 2023: A Brighter Economic Future? at Jesus College, University of Cambridge, UK.
In Feb 2022, I joined the former UAE Ambassador to Singapore to discuss the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) and Africa relations
I taught Economic Development of Africa to undergraduate and master’s students at SOAS University of London.
In 2022, I became a member of the Royal Economic Society, London, UK. I served as a senior research fellow at The FATE Institute, Lagos, Nigeria.
I delivered a Keynote Presentation at the 25th Nigerian Economic Summit on Three Scenarios for Nigeria in 2050.
I facilitated a session on Government Regulations at the Union Bank Next100 Fund/TedX Lagos Forum.
I served as a Judge at the 2019 ENACTUS National Competition, which featured young Nigerians showcasing their innovative projects.
As a panelist, I shared my views at the World Bank Forum on Governance and Financing Basic Education in Nigeria.
