My Career As An Economist

My career journey began in 2008 where I served as a Research Analyst and Student Associate at ValueFronteira Limited, an economic research and consulting firm. At VF, I prepared monthly macroeconomic reports, industry reports, money and financial market updates and wrote articles on economic issues.

Thereafter, I moved to Agusto & Co., Nigeria’s foremost research and credit ratings company, where I developed my skills in Macroeconomic and Industry Analysis. At Agusto & Co., I conducted macroeconomic analysis and prepared detailed industry reports for clients – commercial banks, investors, pension firms, etc. From Agusto & Co., I joined the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Nigeria’s leading private sector-led think tank, committed to the development of a competitive Nigerian economy. I serve as a Principal Economist at the NESG, where I lead the work on Economic Transformation and Competitiveness.

I engage policymakers on reforms to improve the Nigerian economy. I also liaise with private sector leaders, providing them with useful insights to navigate a complex and volatile world. In 2019, I delivered a presentation on “Three Scenarios for Nigeria Going into 2050” at the Nigerian Economic Summit, which had in attendance Nigeria’s president, state governors and captains of industry. I also contributed to the development of Nigeria’s Medium Term National Development Plan (2021 – 2025).

My love for Economics extends beyond professional engagements.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics (Delta) and a Master’s Degree in Economics (Lagos). I earned my PhD in Economics from SOAS, University of London, where I worked on Structural Transformation, Productivity Growth and Employment with a focus on Africa and Nigeria.

I am a member of the Royal Economic Society, London, UK and serve as the Chair of the Diaspora Chapter of the Nigerian Economic Society.
